Success: Be Better Than You Were Yesterday

There’s a quote from Ernest Hemingway: "There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self."
A Couple Thoughts on the Topic:
Stop Measuring Yourself Against Other People
Success isn’t a social leaderboard. If you’re going to compete with anyone, make it yourself—who you were last week, last year. Are you wiser? Stronger? A better person to the people in your life? That’s progress. That’s success.Redefine Success On Your Terms
Success isn’t about ticking off someone else’s checklist. Success is about showing up for yourself, and getting incrementally better everyday. Small improvements—make them count. They add up.
At the end of the day, this life is yours. The real flex? Growth. The real competition? Yesterday’s you.
Lately, I’ve been spending more time in Manhattan. (Stopped by the New York Public Library over the weekend; today’s illustration). My stepdad, a classic no-nonsense New Yorker, has become one of my favorite people. His whole approach to life? Be better, no apologies. Which, if you ask me, is the best way to live.
So—be better. Not than them. Than you. That’s what really matters.
