A Star Wars Lesson for Everyday

What’s In There?
I love Star Wars. It’s a franchise that never gets old—the friendships, the dry humor of the droids, and a sense of something bigger than ourselves. There’s a scene in The Empire Strikes Back that is fantastic.
Luke Skywalker is in the swamps of Dagobah, training with Yoda. He senses something dark lurking in a nearby cave. He asks, “What’s in there?” and Yoda responds, “Only what you take with you.”
Only What You Take With You
Luke had no idea what was in the cave, but he went in anyway. What he found? His own fear and anger. Because that’s what he carried in with him.
Every day, we step into situations filled with uncertainty—at work, in relationships, in life. We can’t always control what’s ahead, but we can control what we bring with us. Walk into a tough conversation with frustration and defensiveness? That’s what you’ll get. Approach a challenge with clarity and confidence? You’re already shaping the outcome.
The cave is different for everyone. Some days, it’s an important customer meeting. Other days, it’s a difficult conversation or a personal challenge. But the rule is always the same:
You face it with what you take with you.
Bring What You Want to Find
Every day, we step into new caves. Instead of asking what’s in there?—evaluate what are you bringing with you? Fear or courage? Doubt or determination?
What you want your outcomes or relationships to be—bring that with you.
May the Force Be With You
Andor is Disney+ prequel to Rogue One and follows the early story of Cassian Andor. Season 2 drops April 22, 2025.
For May the Fourth Be With You on May 4, 2025, I’ll share this illustration featuring B2EMO or the classic duo, R2-D2 and C-3PO. If you’d like to use it too, subscribe to my blog—I’ll send a link to the downloadable file on April 15th.
So, as you step into your next challenge, May the Force be with you… I’m preparing early… Happy May the Fourth!
